a few haiku

Sometimes I like to write haiku when I find myself in a situation or state of mind that strikes me as humorous or ridiculous, or as particularly representative of the day-to-day human condition. I realize these aren't the beautiful, atmospheric poems that real haiku poets write. Nonetheless, haiku is excellent for the Busy Person Who Has Something to Say because it's easy, it almost always sounds Good Enough, and you can do it with one hand while you cook dinner.
Here are a few. I think I may write more.

On potty training, 2007
Number One
As gold as sunlight
Pour forth swiftly running rivers
Soaking socks, pee pools

Number Two
Darkest avalanche
Quick! It comes. Run, fly, my son!
Shit! Oh, shit. Warm bath.

Weekend in three acts, November 2009
Family night
Let's watch a movie
Aliens in the Attic
It wasn't my choice

Arts and Crafts, or My Night Off
X-acto knife glides
Swiftly through my errant thumb
First-aid kit lacks gauze

Laundry
One blue sweater, shrunk
Twelve pairs, Batman underpants
Twenty one white socks

Weekend, April 2010
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: my weekend in three lines
Work work work, wine, sleep.
Coffee, work work work, wine, sleep.
Work work work, wine, sleep.

[Or, more specifically]
Dig, sow, vacuum, mow.
Shop, chop, an eye on the pot.
Sing my son to sleep.
